Some Nyseg Customers Still Without Power After Storms Hit Area

Some area residents remain in the dark following a round of storms that struck the area overnight following Monday’s sudden rise in temperatures in the region.

On Tuesday morning, as of 9:30 a.m., 44 of NYSEG’s 92,530 customers in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Northern Westchester County remained without power as crews continue cleaning up from the overnight storm, with a planned restoration time of the early afternoon for all residents.

In total, 629 of NYSEG’s customers remained without power in the region, reporting more than 50 outages.

Overnight, storms hit the area, bringing rain and winds, which knocked out some utility poles, leaving some residents in the dark. On Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to hover in the 80s, with a high of 89 degrees. Thunderstorms are likely to reach the region in the afternoon, bringing winds up to 20 mph.
